On the 6th, Japanese media reported, citing researchers, that the earthquake on the Neden Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan caused some coastal areas of the seabed to rise and become land. According to the Yomiuri Shimbun, researchers from the Japan Institute of Land and Geography analyzed satellite observation data and found that the coastal seabed bulge from Zhuzhou City on the Nengten Peninsula to Shiga Town is exposed to the water, with a total length of about 85 kilometers. Among them, the underwater uplift in the Junyuewan area of Lundao City is about 4 meters, and the coastline is advancing towards the sea by about 200 meters. Researchers from the Japan Geographical Society analyzed aerial photography images and found that within a range of approximately 50 kilometers along the coast from Zhuzhou City to Lunjima City, the land area expanded by approximately 240 hectares. According to Kyodo News Agency, according to aerial observations, there is a phenomenon of underwater land rising out of the water within approximately 15 kilometers along the coast of Lundao City. A 7.6 magnitude earthquake occurred on the Nengteng Peninsula on the 1st, with a maximum magnitude of 7, reaching the highest seismic intensity level set by the Japan Meteorological Agency. The Yomiuri Shimbun reported, citing Hideaki Goto, an associate professor of geography at Hiroshima University, that earthquakes that cause terrain changes have occurred multiple times in this area for thousands of years, with one day of earthquakes reaching this level. According to statistics from Ishikawa Prefecture, as of 17:00 local time on the 6th, the Neng Teng Peninsula earthquake caused 126 deaths in the county, and 210 people are still missing. According to the Japan Meteorological Association, including the earthquake that occurred a few minutes before the 7.6 magnitude earthquake on the 1st, as of noon on the 7th, there were 15 earthquakes with a maximum magnitude of 5 or above in the Noto Peninsula region. Among them, the earthquake that occurred late at night on the 6th had a maximum magnitude of 6. (Lai Xin She)
