The selection results of the "China Japan South Korea Spirit -2024 Chinese Characters" initiated by the Secretariat of China Japan South Korea Cooperation were announced on January 1 in Seoul, South Korea, and "Exchange" was elected with the highest number of votes. This voting event was held from November 15 to December 20, 2023, and more than 10000 votes were collected. Among the 12 candidate words, "communication" received the most votes, while "friendship" and "respect" ranked second and third, respectively. "We hope that the term 'communication' can provide us with motivation, strengthen communication, and enhance mutual understanding." Li Xixie, Secretary General of the Secretariat for Cooperation between China, Japan, and South Korea, said that the three-year epidemic has caused obstacles to personnel exchanges among the three countries. After the epidemic, we hope to strengthen personnel exchanges and promote exchanges and cooperation. This vote is the second annual Chinese character selection event organized by the Secretariat for Cooperation between China, Japan, and South Korea. The event aims to focus on the common cultural values of China, Japan, and South Korea, and promote mutual understanding among the people. The annual Chinese characters selected from last year's event were "He He". In 2011, the governments of China, Japan, and South Korea established a permanent international organization, the Secretariat for Cooperation between China, Japan, and South Korea, in Seoul to deepen cooperation.
