The main line connection ceremony of the Dakar Rapid Transit System (BRT) project, undertaken by Chinese enterprises, was held in the capital of Senegal, Dakar on the 27th. This project is Senegal's first urban rapid transit route and one of the key projects of the "Revitalization of Senegal Plan". Senegal's Prime Minister Amadou Ba stated at the ceremony that this rapid transit system will use clean energy and will effectively alleviate traffic pressure in the capital after its opening and operation. It is reported that the civil engineering of the project was implemented by China Road and Bridge Engineering Co., Ltd. (CRBC) and started construction in November 2019. The total length of the line is 18.3 kilometers, with 23 enclosed bus stations and 3 hub transfer stations. The electric buses for project operation are provided by CRRC Corporation Limited. Huang Fei, General Manager of BRT Project at China Road and Bridge Senegal Co., Ltd., introduced that the project will significantly shorten the commuting time from the suburbs of Dakar to the city center, effectively improving urban transportation.
