Wang Yi Holds a Phone Call with British Foreign Secretary Cameron

On December 5th, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Cameron at the invitation. Wang Yi stated that both China and the UK are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and have important responsibilities in maintaining international peace and stability. The stable and healthy development of China UK relations is not only in line with the fundamental and long-term interests of the two peoples, but also has strategic and global significance in promoting world peace and prosperity. China and the UK are mutually beneficial development opportunities. I hope the British side can establish a correct understanding of China and grasp the overall direction of the development of China UK relations. Wang Yi stated that China has always been firmly committed to the path of peaceful development and maintains continuity and stability in its foreign policy. China insists on advocating multilateralism and opposing unilateral bullying; Support free trade and oppose protectionism. China's development is the growth of world peace forces and the enhancement of stability factors in the international community. Faced with the ever-changing and intertwined international situation and endless global challenges, China and the UK need to maintain communication and dialogue, strengthen coordination, and deepen cooperation. Cameron stated that no country in the world can tackle global challenges alone today, and that contact and cooperation between the UK and China are in the interest of both sides.
