The Middle Route Project of the South to North Water Diversion Project has been in operation from December 12, 2014 to November 13, 2014, with a cumulative water diversion volume exceeding 60 billion cubic meters, directly benefiting more than 108 million people in the four provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Henan. The relevant person in charge of China South to North Water Diversion Group Co., Ltd. stated that in the past 9 years since the opening of the Middle Route Project of the South to North Water Diversion, through the implementation of scientific scheduling, the scope of the water receiving area has been continuously expanding, and the beneficiary population has been increasing year by year. At present, over 70% of the water supply in the urban area of Beijing is from the South to North Water Diversion Project, while all the water supply in the main urban area of Tianjin is from the South to North Water Diversion Project. In terms of water quality, the water quality of the middle route of the South to North Water Diversion Project is stable and meets the Class II surface water standard or above.
