The 2023 Academic Annual Meeting of the Legislative Yuan Research Association of the China Law Society was held in Tianjin from the 11th to the 12th. The reporter learned from the meeting that currently, legal professionals in China are continuously strengthening forward-looking research and theoretical reserves in legislation in key, emerging, and foreign-related fields, and focusing on cultivating relevant talents. According to reports, the legislative plan of the 14th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress will focus on strengthening legislation in key areas, emerging areas, and foreign-related fields, and further focus on clarifying the major issues of "what to establish". Legislation in emerging fields focuses on the future trend, reflects a forward-looking layout, and provides legal protection for the healthy development of new technologies, applications, formats, and models. In recent years, the Legislative Law Research Association of the China Law Society has united legal professionals engaged in legislative theoretical research and legislative practice from various aspects, closely combined with legislative practice, conducted in-depth academic research, actively participated in national and local legislative drafting consulting work, and focused on strengthening the construction of legislative disciplines and legislative textbooks in law schools. This has provided solid theoretical and intellectual support for comprehensively promoting the legalization of various aspects of national work. The theme of this academic annual conference is "Theory and Practice of Legislation in the New Era and New Journey", with over 400 experts and scholars from higher education institutions, research institutions, and legislative practice departments across the country attending. Participants conducted in-depth discussions around a total of 17 units in six sub forums, specifically setting up sub forums such as "legislation in key areas, emerging areas, and foreign-related fields" and "legislation in technology and artificial intelligence". It is understood that in order to cultivate high-level legislative talents in the new era, the Legislative Law Research Association of the China Law Society has established a practical platform for young researchers and college students, and held a national law student simulation legislative competition. The 2023 National Law Student Simulation Legislative Competition attracted more than 3800 students from 209 universities across the country, basically achieving full coverage of administrative regions and educational levels.
