On the 8th, the reporter learned from the China Hydrogen Alliance that the world's first renewable energy hydrogen production and emission reduction methodology, led by the alliance's research institute, was recently approved at the 119th meeting of the Executive Council of the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), officially becoming the 124th major methodology of CDM, filling the gap in global renewable energy hydrogen production and carbon emission reduction methodology. CDM is the most influential carbon reduction mechanism in the international community, applicable to emission reduction plans around the world. The CDM methodology defines key elements of CDM, such as project boundaries, baseline, project emissions, and monitoring plans. It is an important component of the CDM mechanism and an important foundation for quantifying carbon emissions reduction. Since May 2022, the China Hydrogen Alliance Research Institute has conducted extensive research and systematic research on the emission reduction potential of renewable energy hydrogen production, in collaboration with National Energy Group Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd., Hydrogen Traceability Technology Co., Ltd., and other units. Key factors such as the system boundary and renewable energy usage ratio of renewable energy hydrogen production emission reduction methods have been continuously optimized, and a renewable energy hydrogen production emission reduction methodology has finally been proposed. The approval of this methodology marks authoritative recognition for its completeness, scientificity, and applicability, and can be officially applied to electrolysis water hydrogen production projects supported by renewable energy or hybrid electricity, and supplied to dedicated users. In the future, the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance will take this opportunity to play a good role as a national level hydrogen energy industry think tank, relying on its member units to fully utilize its own emission reduction methodology development work foundation, promote the carbon emission accounting and carbon asset development demonstration projects of renewable energy hydrogen production projects, and serve the high-quality development of China's hydrogen energy industry.
