2023-09-30

Since the beginning of this year, China's foreign trade has been under pressure due to multiple factors. Guo Tingting, Vice Minister of Commerce, stated at a recent press conference of the National Development and Reform Office that she is working with local governments and relevant departments to increase efforts and launch more practical measures to help foreign trade enterprises seize orders and expand the market, striving to achieve the goal of promoting stability and quality in foreign trade throughout the year. We are preparing to introduce multiple policy measures to support cooperation in the trade of new energy vehicles, support the export of second-hand cars, improve the development level of processing trade, and support the construction of overseas warehouses. Guo Tingting said that while increasing trade policy support, we will strengthen international market development, hold key exhibitions, further optimize visa policies, and better facilitate business personnel exchanges. In terms of strengthening enterprise training and financial services, Guo Tingting stated that she will continue to carry out specialized training and matchmaking meetings on trade hedging, RCEP chain stabilization, and overseas warehouses. Increase support for export credit to foreign trade enterprises, especially small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises, and further expand the underwriting scale and coverage of export credit insurance. In addition, we will continue to promote trade liberalization and facilitation, firmly uphold the multilateral trading system centered around the World Trade Organization, oppose unilateralism and protectionism, adhere to high-level opening-up, accelerate the construction of a network of high standard free trade zones, and inject more momentum into the global economic recovery. Guo Tingting introduced that with the joint efforts of all parties, China's foreign trade has shown strong development resilience and innovative vitality. Compared with the same period in 2019, the scale of China's imports and exports and the number of foreign trade entities increased by over 30% in the first eight months of this year. The proportion of exports to emerging markets increased by nearly 7 percentage points, and the scale of new formats such as cross-border e-commerce increased by 11 times. Green new energy products have become export highlights. At the same time, according to World Trade Organization statistics, the total global exports in the first half of the year decreased by 4.6% year-on-year, a decrease of 1.4 percentage points more than China. China's global market share reached 14.2%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year. (New News Agency)
