It is reported that from January to August this year, the national customs intercepted a total of 1826 species of prohibited live animals and plants from entering the country, including 796 species of animals and plants that are not naturally distributed in China, such as giant centipedes, red ants, and striped salamanders. They also cracked down on multiple criminal gangs that illegally introduced "exotic pets". In order to firmly implement the overall national security concept, prevent and control the invasion of alien species, maintain biodiversity, and protect the ecological environment, in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Biosafety Law, and other laws, the national customs, people's courts at all levels, and people's procuratorates at all levels will jointly carry out actions, increase the collection of clues, and strengthen the inspection of alien species through channels such as freight transportation, carrying, mailing, cross-border e-commerce, and border trade; Strengthen the connection and cooperation between administrative law enforcement and criminal justice, promptly transfer, file, investigate, prosecute, and try suspected illegal and criminal cases, investigate and handle a number of typical cases in accordance with the law, and form a judicial deterrent; Establish and improve mechanisms for reporting and transferring cases, and jointly carry out supervision and handling of major cases; Actively carry out interpretation of relevant regulations and policies, guide the public to consciously stay away from and resist relevant illegal activities, and form a joint force to combat the illegal introduction of invasive alien species.
