During the 53rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Chinese Society for Human Rights Studies held a side meeting on the theme of "Thirty Years of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action: China's Exploration and Experience" in Geneva on the 14th. Experts and scholars in the field of human rights have conducted discussions on issues such as China's practice of the Declaration and Programme of Action, the concept of the right to survival and development, international cooperation on human rights, and protection of minority rights. Lu Guangjin, vice president of the Chinese Society for Human Rights Studies and professor of the Institute of Human Rights Studies of Jilin University, said in his keynote speech that China adheres to the principle of universality of human rights and its national conditions, and strives to find a human rights development path that conforms to the trend of the times and suits its national conditions. Protecting human rights through security, promoting human rights through development, and promoting human rights through cooperation not only conforms to the spirit of the Declaration and Programme of Action, but also develops the spirit of the Declaration and Programme of Action under new historical conditions, which will inject new vitality into promoting global human rights governance towards a more fair, just, reasonable, and inclusive direction. Qian Jinyu, Executive Deputy Director of the Human Rights Research Center of Northwest University of Politics and Law, pointed out that the Chinese form of human rights civilization is the specific expression and practice of the pluralism of human rights civilization, and its core connotation is to promote development through cooperation based on mutual respect and shape the diversity of human rights civilization. He Zhipeng, Executive Dean of the Human Rights Research Institute of Jilin University and Dean of the Law School, said that in the history of development and promotion of human rights, China has long paid high attention to the realization and protection of economic, social and cultural rights. From China's experience, it can be seen that development is an effective way to solve a series of problems, including human rights. Zhao Jianzhou, lecturer of the Law School of Nanjing Normal University, said that China's non politicized agenda in the field of human rights pursues equal and mutually respectful human rights exchanges. When international human rights governance faces severe challenges, non politicized human rights discourse will help the international community bridge differences. In the speech on the protection of the rights of the disabled, Wang Shuqi, an assistant researcher of the Human Rights Research Center of Northwest University of Politics and Law, said that the legislation on Accessibility construction is a vivid manifestation of China's legislation that adheres to the people-oriented principle and solves the most direct and realistic interests of the people. Shen Tianjiao, a researcher of the Human Rights Research Institute of Jilin University, said that China's global development initiative, global security initiative and global civilization initiative fit the purpose of the declaration and action program, and the implementation of the three initiatives is conducive to planning and guiding global human rights governance. Experts and scholars attending the meeting also conducted in-depth discussions on the protection of the right to development of ethnic minorities in China, the significance of poverty alleviation in protecting human rights, and the development of human rights education in China.
