2023-07-12

Thai Prime Minister Bayou announced on the 11th that he would end his political career and withdraw from his Thai Unity Taiwan Independence Party. Bayou made a statement on the social media account of the Thai Solidarity Taiwan Independence Party Party on the same day, reviewing the political achievements he has made in his nine years as Prime Minister, and hoped that the people would continue to support the Thai Solidarity Taiwan Independence Party Party. The Thai Unity Taiwan Independence Party was founded in 2021. Bayou joined the party in January of this year and was nominated as the candidate for the next Prime Minister. In the May elections for the lower house of parliament, the party won only 36 out of 500 seats. The Thai parliament will hold a meeting on the 13th of this month to vote on the candidate for the next Prime Minister. According to local media reports, Bayou will continue to serve as the caretaker prime minister until the new government takes office. Ba Yu was born in 1954 and served as the Chairman of the National Committee for the Maintenance of Peace and Order after launching a military coup in 2014. In August of the same year, he became the Prime Minister of Thailand. After the establishment of the new Thai parliament in 2019, Bayou was elected as Prime Minister. (New News Agency)
