Qin Gang Holds Talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken

On June 18, State councillor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Beijing. Qin Gang stated that currently, China US relations are at their lowest point since the establishment of diplomatic relations, which is not in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples and the common expectations of the international community. China is committed to building a stable, predictable, and constructive Sino US relationship. I hope that the US side will uphold an objective and rational understanding of China, act in opposition to China, maintain the political foundation of Sino US relations, and handle unexpected incidents calmly, professionally, and rationally. Qin Gang expounded his solemn position and made clear requirements on the Political status of Taiwan and other core interests and major concerns of China. The two sides had a long period of frank, in-depth, and constructive communication on the overall relationship between China and the United States and related important issues. Both sides agree to jointly implement the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting between the two heads of state, effectively manage differences, and promote dialogue, exchange, and cooperation. Both sides agree to maintain high-level exchanges. Secretary of State Antony Blinken invited Qin Gang, State councillor and Foreign Minister, to visit the United States. Qin Gang expressed his willingness to visit the United States at the convenience of both sides. Both sides agree to continue to advance the consultation on the guiding principles of China US relations. Both sides agree to continue promoting the consultation of the Sino US Joint Working Group and resolving specific issues in Sino US relations. Both sides agree to encourage the expansion of cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries, actively explore increasing passenger flights between China and the United States, welcome more students, scholars, and business professionals to visit each other's countries, and provide support and convenience for this.
