The Supreme People's Court held a press conference to release the "China Environmental Resources Trial (2022)" and typical cases, as well as the "China Environmental Justice Development Report (2022)". Yang Linping, Vice President of the Supreme People's Court, Lv Zhongmei, Vice Chairman of the Environmental and Resource Protection Committee of the National People's Congress, and Liu Zhumei, President of the Environmental Resources Trial Division of the Supreme People's Court, attended the press conference and answered questions from reporters. The annual report of "China's Environmental and Resource Justice (2022)" aims to protect the ecological environment with the strictest system and strictest rule of law, focusing on the overall situation and serving the construction of ecological civilization in the new era and new journey, practicing the promotion of fairness and efficiency, fully playing the role of environmental and resource justice, enriching the rules of legal application, promoting the sound and perfect legal system of environmental and resource law, continuously deepening reform and innovation, and promoting the professional construction of environmental and resource justice, Focusing on modern environmental governance, enhancing collaboration and service guarantee capabilities, deepening international exchanges and cooperation, and contributing to the construction of a clean and beautiful world, China's wisdom will be comprehensively summarized in six aspects. The environmental resource trial work in 2022 will be comprehensively summarized. According to the report, in 2022, courts nationwide accepted a total of 273177 first instance environmental resource cases and concluded 246104 cases. We have accepted 5885 environmental public interest litigation cases, concluded 4582 cases, accepted 221 ecological environment damage compensation cases, and concluded 153 cases, continuously improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of law enforcement. Yang Linping introduced that in 2022, the People's Court continued to deepen the reform and innovation of the environmental justice system and mechanism, and the level of specialization in environmental resource trials steadily improved; Continuously strengthen the formulation of judicial interpretations related to environmental resources, as well as the release of guiding cases and typical cases, to promote the increasingly scientific and systematic improvement of the ecological environment and resource protection law network; Continuously extending the judicial function in accordance with the law, actively participating in the comprehensive management of the ecological environment, and promoting the co governance of the ecological environment; Fully utilize the international environmental justice diversified sharing platform to showcase China's environmental justice experience and achievements, and tell the story of China's environmental justice well. It is understood that as of December 2022, the Supreme People's Court, 30 higher courts, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Branch have all established environmental resource trial courts. Following the establishment of environmental resource courts in Nanjing, Lanzhou, Kunming, and Zhengzhou, the Supreme People's Court has approved the establishment of environmental resource courts in Changchun and Urumqi, with continuous improvement in the coverage of professional institutions and four levels of courts. The professionalization of environmental justice has formed distinct Chinese characteristics. The "China Environmental Justice Development Report (2022)" released this time was jointly completed by the Environmental Resources Justice Research Center of the Supreme People's Court and the China Environmental Justice Development Research Group. Lv Zhongmei introduced the main content of the report, stating that in 2022, the judicial authorities will continue to focus on the specialization of environmental justice as the main focus, focusing on cracking down on institutional issues that affect judicial fairness and restrict judicial efficiency.
