2023-05-25

Literature not only records and interprets life, but also participates and changes life. The writers and works that leave a mark on people's lives give special meaning to life. The literary museum preserves these special memories and brings them to life. Recently, a literary museum seminar initiated by Ba Jin's former residence and co hosted by literary museums and writers' former residences across the country, led by the China Modern Literature Museum, was held online. The topics discussed include how literary museums can utilize new technologies, new media, and explore their own characteristics to carry out public cultural services. The China Modern Literature Museum introduced some progress in digital work in recent years, such as using the digital research of writer Ding Ling's manuscript as a breakthrough point to promote the research of literature museum collections; Leveraging large-scale themed activities such as the "Writers' Week" and "Dramatists' Day" of the China Writers Association, we aim to innovate modern communication methods. Ba Jin's former residence shared the case of creating a "reading classics - modern writers' works appreciation and reading micro platform" based on the WeChat official account. The platform sends classic writers' works to readers in a more flexible and friendly way through online and offline linkage. Fujian Bingxin Literature Museum and Lin Yutang Memorial Museum shared their experience in digitizing collections and made use of new media platforms to get close to readers and make collections "live". As a typical representative of small urban literature museums, Qingdao Literature Museum tells the story of its exploration of diversified development paths. Experts attending the meeting pointed out that the author's former residence and memorial hall are important components of literary museums. The venues need to tap into celebrity resources, combine their own characteristics, and carry out creative exhibitions, promotions, and research. The Memorial Hall of the Chinese Leftist Writers' Alliance highlights the characteristics of the Writers' Alliance and collaborates with numerous sister venues; The Ding Ling Memorial Hall in Changde City, Hunan Province deeply explores Ding Ling's spiritual traits from her legendary experience and develops multi-dimensional brand activities; The Maodun Memorial Hall in Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province emphasizes the integration of culture and tourism, deeply cultivates revolutionary literature, and highlights the red theme; Xiao Hong's former residence plans to host several exhibitions of writers' works and manuscripts, showcasing the humanistic value of the residence; Xu Zhimo Memorial Hall started with Xu Zhimo's "poet" label, and organized brand poetry festivals such as "New Moon Poetry Festival" and "Qixi Poetry Festival"; The Beijing Lu Xun Museum is based on a rich and diverse collection, sorting out the context and constructing multi-level Lu Xun themed exhibitions... Many literary museums share their innovation and creativity in curation practices. Li Weiyin, the daughter of writer Li Jianwu, Shi Shouqian, the grandson of Shi Zhecun, and Zheng Yuan, the grandson of Zheng Zhenduo also came to the seminar to share their feelings about the organization and preservation of their grandparents' manuscripts and relics. Zhou Limin, Executive Vice Curator of Ba Jin's Former Residence, believes that the museum has now integrated into people's daily lives, helping people pursue a happy life. The members of the literary museum should fulfill their responsibilities and make their own contributions on the path towards a better life. (Reporter Huang Jingwei) (Xinhua News Agency)
