The United Nations General Assembly designated November 26th as World Sustainable Transport Day

On the 16th, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution designating November 26th as World Sustainable Transport Day. The resolution invites all United Nations Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, international and regional organizations, as well as civil society, to commemorate World Sustainable Transport Day, raise public awareness of sustainable transport issues through education and organizing activities, promote environmentally friendly transport, and develop socially inclusive transport infrastructure. The resolution emphasizes the contribution of sustainable, low emission, and energy-efficient transportation modes to mitigating and adapting to climate change, as well as achieving sustainable development goals. It encourages organizations of the United Nations system and other international organizations, relevant international and regional financial institutions, multilateral and bilateral donors, and the private sector to coordinate actions and mobilize financial and technical assistance for countries, especially developing countries, to strengthen the connections between various transportation modes, Achieving sustainable development goals.
