The Assistant Director General of Information Communication at UNESCO, Taufik Jarasi, stated that as one of the most widely used languages on Earth, Chinese is not only a language, but also a window to unique ways of thinking, a window to interpret splendid culture and long history, and a window to trace back centuries of cultural exchange. The Chinese Day event provides an opportunity to open this window. Nicolas Idier, the French Governor General of Chinese Studies, stated that Chinese is an international language and the French government attaches great importance to Chinese language teaching. Between 2022 and 2023, over 40000 high school students in France studied Chinese, and 884 secondary schools and 24 primary schools offered Chinese language courses. The activities on that day mainly included themed forums and receptions, jointly organized by the Permanent Mission of China to UNESCO, the National Committee of UNESCO, the Sino Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education of China, and the European Central Station of China Central Radio and Television.
