At the first session of the 14th National People's Congress of China, the State Council's institutional reform plan was approved. Among them, the Ministry of Science and Technology was reorganized. In my view, as an Indian working in China, this is the latest measure of China to strengthen the spirit of innovation and pursue self-improvement in science and technology. When I came to China from India six years ago, I was soon attracted by the vibrant and fast-paced innovation here. One summer when the ubiquitous "black and white square" first arrived in China, I suddenly wanted to taste the Liangpi recommended by my friend. After taking my seat in the restaurant, I found a QR code on the table. I took my mobile phone and scanned it. A menu suddenly popped up on the screen. Without calling the waiter, I can browse the dishes, order and check out. The whole process is amazing! In China, these ubiquitous "black and white squares" are the gateway to a convenient world. From paying for water and electricity to renting bicycles and taking the subway, these QR codes have completely changed the way people interact with the world around them. Even fruit stands on the street can scan the codes to pay. The "black and white box" is a microcosm of China's digital economy, which is an important driving force for China's innovation and development. In the past five years, the digital economy has been included in the government work report every year. During the two sessions this year, China announced the establishment of the National Data Bureau. Innovation has changed all aspects of Chinese life. From the crisscross high-speed rail network to life-saving medical technology, the achievements of scientific and technological progress have benefited every corner of the country. For example, telemedicine can break through the barriers of time and distance, so that people in remote areas can get medical treatment in time without having to travel long distances, thus saving lives and improving the health of millions of people. China's comfortable and convenient high-speed rail is amazing. The intercity train connecting Beijing and Tianjin can reach a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and it only takes about half an hour to go one way. I have visited many countries and feel that no other country can match China's transportation infrastructure. From infrastructure to cutting-edge technology, high-quality innovation has changed the lives of Chinese people in ways unimaginable before. As a foreigner in China for many years, I believe that China's innovation will make my life better. Innovative spirit of mission Once when I was eating in a restaurant in Shanghai, the young engineers at the next table were discussing their latest research project - a revolutionary new bionic hand technology. After talking with them, my admiration arose spontaneously. These young people are eager to make a positive impact on the world and make everyone's life better. Innovation is not only their work, but also their mission! Over the years, China has made remarkable progress in scientific and technological innovation and has risen to the 11th place in the global innovation index. However, China stressed that in the fierce international competition, to open up new fields and new tracks for development and shape new driving forces and new advantages for development, fundamentally speaking, we still need to rely on scientific and technological innovation. China's science and technology enterprises are firm promoters and practitioners of the spirit of innovation. Tencent, Baidu and other Chinese enterprises are increasing their R&D investment in the field of artificial intelligence. China also has innovative enterprises in the fields of renewable energy, e-commerce and biotechnology.
