The total operating mileage of Shenzhen Metro Line 6 and Line 12 has entered the era of "500" kilometers at the initial stage of opening

2022-11-29

On November 28, Shenzhen Metro Line 6 and Line 12 were opened for initial operation simultaneously. So far, the scale of Shenzhen's urban rail transit network has reached 16 (including trams), with a total operating mileage of 530 kilometers (518.35 kilometers of subway and 11.7 kilometers of trams). This means that Shenzhen has become the second city in Guangdong Province where the subway mileage has exceeded 500 kilometers. Across the country, cities that have exceeded 500 kilometers of subway mileage include not only Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but also Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu, Hangzhou and other cities. At present, Shenzhen Metro has become a new artery that gathers transportation, economy, humanities and other urban development elements, helps Shenzhen's urban development and rebirth, and promotes the integration and interaction of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Guangzhou's coordinated development and Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area. "After the subway enters the era of '500 km', it can not only further improve the travel convenience and happiness of Shenzhen residents, improve the livability of Shenzhen, but also help the development of the city interior and accelerate the construction of Dawan District on the track." Relevant person in charge of Shenzhen Railway Group introduced. The branch line of Metro Line 6 is constructed in two phases. This is the first phase of the project, which starts from Guangming Station of Metro Line 6 and ends at the border of Shenzhen and Dongguan. The line is 6.13km long, with four stations and four sections. After opening to traffic, it will further open up the traffic inner circle in the bright area, and build a 1-hour traffic circle from the main urban area of Shenzhen to Dongguan. Metro Line 12 starts from Zuobaotai East Station in the south and ends at Haihaitianyuan East Station in the north. It is 40.54km long and has 33 stations in total. It is the first subway line operated in PPP mode in Shenzhen. It is also the line with the largest number of stations, ancillary works and transfer stations (including long-term planning) in Shenzhen Metro Phase IV Project. After the opening of Metro Line 12, it will transfer with Metro Lines 1, 2, 5, 9, 11 and 20, effectively relieving traffic congestion in Nanshan Central District and Bao'an Central District. The year 2022 will be the "blowout" period when Shenzhen Metro will be opened in a centralized manner. There are four phases of the project, five lines with a total length of 128 kilometers, which are the largest number of lines opened simultaneously over the years. At present, Shenzhen's underground "urban artery" will continue to maintain a rapid development momentum. Within the year, with the opening of Metro Line 16, Shenzhen will complete the target task of 559 km rail transit operating mileage. At the same time, Shenzhen will also accelerate the implementation of Phase V rail transit projects. By 2035, Shenzhen will have built more than 1000 kilometers of urban rail transit, more than 1000 kilometers of high-speed rail, intercity rail and urban (suburban) rail backbone transportation network.
