The Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2022 elected the member states and members of the Radio Rules Committee on the 3rd. China was successfully re elected as the member state of the ITU. Cheng Jianjun, director of the China National Radio Monitoring Center, was elected as the member of the new Radio Rules Committee. The Plenipotentiary Conference of the International Telecommunication Union in 2022 was held in Bucharest from September 26 to October 14. In his policy speech at the conference on September 27, Zhang Yunming, head of the Chinese delegation and vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that China adheres to the people-centered development philosophy, attaches great importance to and actively promotes the development of the information and communication industry, significantly improves the coverage of communication infrastructure, constantly accelerates industrial integration and innovation, and continues to deepen international cooperation in information and communication; China is willing to work with other countries to strengthen standard R&D and industrial cooperation in 5G and other emerging technologies, jointly promote the inclusive development of the global digital industry, and let more people enjoy the dividends of digital economy development. In order to promote the implementation of the global development initiative and support developing countries to improve their ICT capabilities, Zhang Yunming, on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, signed a cooperation agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to promote cooperation in relevant fields with China's voluntary contributions. During the meeting, Zhang Yunming also met with heads of information and communication authorities in more than 40 countries, including Russia, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Pakistan, Thailand, the Philippines and Argentina, as well as technical envoys of the United Nations and elected officials of the International Telecommunication Union, and signed memorandums of understanding on bilateral cooperation in the field of information and communication with officials of competent authorities in South Africa and Malaysia. Zhao Houlin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union, warmly congratulated China on its successful re-election as a member of the Council and Cheng Jianjun's election as a member of the new Radio Rules Committee. He stressed that China, as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), always represents the interests of developing countries, has been actively promoting the development of global information and communication for a long time, and has made significant contributions to the ITU. Cheng Jianjun is proud that Chinese experts can be re elected as members of the Radio Rules Committee of the International Telecommunication Union. He pointed out that this is the vote of confidence cast by the members of the International Telecommunication Union on China, and it is also a high expectation for China's plans and wisdom. The Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is composed of 48 member States and is responsible for performing the responsibilities of the governing body between the two plenipotentiaries. The Radio Rules Committee, composed of 12 experts, is responsible for explaining radio rules, supplementing and improving rules and procedures, and coordinating the resolution of problems such as radio frequency interference among member countries.
