The eighth Bangladesh China friendship bridge, built with the assistance of the Chinese government and Chinese enterprises, was officially opened to traffic on the 4th. Prime Minister Hasina of Bangladesh, Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming, and Minister of transportation kader of Bangladesh attended the opening ceremony. At the ceremony, Hasina thanked the Chinese side for its assistance in the construction of the bridge and said that the completion and opening of the bridge will give more impetus to the local economy. Li Jiming said that China and Bangladesh are good neighbors, friends and partners. China is willing to deepen cooperation with Bangladesh on the "the Belt and Road", explore new opportunities under the global development initiative, realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the "golden Bangladesh" dream, and work together to create a better future for the two peoples. The eighth Bangladesh China friendship bridge is located about 5km east of rogerbur city in Barisal region of southern Bangladesh. It crosses the Kucha River and connects the kurna special district and Barisal special district. It is an important transportation hub in southwest Bangladesh. The total length of the project is 2.96km. The opening of the eighth Bangladesh China friendship bridge will greatly facilitate the travel of local residents and promote the development of agriculture, industry, aquatic fishery and tourism in southern Bangladesh.
