2022-08-30

Li Bin, deputy director of the national health and Health Commission, introduced at the main event of the 2022 national food safety publicity week on the 29th that up to now, China has issued 1455 national food safety standards, including more than 20000 indicators, covering the main health hazard factors in the whole chain from farmland to table and from process to product, so as to ensure the food safety of the whole population, including children and the elderly. While building the most rigorous standard system, China has also made efforts to strengthen the risk monitoring and evaluation capabilities. Li Bin introduced that China has established two major monitoring networks of national, provincial, municipal and county food pollution and harmful factors monitoring and foodborne disease monitoring, as well as a national food safety risk assessment system. The monitoring of food pollution and harmful factors has covered 99% of the counties and districts, and the monitoring of foodborne diseases has covered more than 70000 medical institutions at all levels. "These measures enable important food safety hazards to be identified and warned sensitively, which not only provides a scientific basis for the formulation of standards, but also provides strong support for serving the government's risk management, the orderly development of industry norms and the protection of public health." Li Bin said. (outlook new era)
