China is the promoter of a new type of Globalization -- an interview with Sharif Ghali, an international relations expert at Abuja University in Nigeria

2022-08-29

Sharif Ghali, director of the Department of politics and international relations of Abuja University in Nigeria, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency a few days ago that China has made positive contributions to the new type of globalization and global governance, and promoted the process of globalization to be fairer and more inclusive. Gali said that for a very long period of time, the globalization led by the west is to promote the western political system, economic system, ideology and culture around the world to reap the benefits of the world. Most African countries and many other developing countries can not really benefit from this process of globalization. Gali believes that the same is true in the cultural field. "The so-called universal culture is actually European culture or American culture. Western culture has swept the world... They have globalized their own culture." Gali said that with the rise of emerging economies, developing countries have an increasingly powerful voice in global governance and have begun to promote a fairer and more inclusive globalization process through various multilateral cooperation mechanisms and platforms. "China is one of the promoters of the new global system." With regard to the so-called "decoupling from China" advocated by some western institutions and politicians recently, Gali pointed out that this is only because they can not accept the fact that China is developing rapidly and are worried that China's success will set an example for other developing countries and shake their position of dominating global interests. Gali believes that China's influence is constantly increasing and its position in the global supply chain cannot be replaced. The so-called "decoupling from China" is unrealistic. "No matter where you go, you will see made in China," Gali said. "In today's industrial and economic system, it is unthinkable without China's participation." Gali said that the global supply chain that China participates in is an important basis for the economic growth of Nigeria and other developing countries. The "the Belt and Road" initiative put forward by China constantly helps developing countries improve the infrastructure necessary for development. The huge market that China actively opens is extremely attractive to developing countries. Gali stressed that there is no market for "decoupling from China" in developing countries, because "decoupling from China" means decoupling from opportunities. "Without China, globalization cannot be sustained." (news agency)
