According to the information released by the Philippine volcanic earthquake research institute, the earthquake occurred at 8:43 local time (8:43 Beijing time). The epicenter was located about 3 kilometers northwest of tayum Town, Abra Province, with a focal depth of 17 kilometers. The earthquake was felt in many areas of Luzon Island, including Manila, the capital. Houses were damaged in some areas of Abra Province, and many roads were temporarily closed. The Philippine Institute of volcanic seismology said that the earthquake was a tectonic earthquake. Several aftershocks have been recorded after the strong earthquake.
