Mogadishu news: the speaker of the Somali house of Representatives, Adan Mohamed Nur, said on the 15th that former president Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud won the third round of presidential election on the same day and became the tenth president of the country. The current president, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, admitted defeat. Somalia held its third presidential election since the outbreak of civil war in 1991 on the 15th. 328 members of the lower house and Upper House voted for the president from 36 candidates. After two rounds of voting, Mahmoud and Mohammed entered the third round of voting. In the end, Mahmoud defeated Muhammad by 214 votes to 110. Mahmoud was sworn in that day and became the first twice elected president in Somali history. Mahmoud, 66, was elected president of Somalia in September 2012, becoming the first president elected by the federal parliament since the civil war, which also means the end of Somalia's 21-year political transition.
