International observation: the "democracy summit" does not change the nature of hegemonism

2021-12-24

Recently, the US government held a long planned so-called "democracy summit" to talk about the "challenges" facing global democracy, boast about American democracy, and claim to "lead mankind to progress and freedom again". However, behind these so-called words of democracy and human rights, what highlights is the hegemonic pursuit of the declining United States. The United States tries to monopolize the discourse power of democratic values in the name of democracy. The US government named the conference "democracy summit" and determined the participants according to American democratic standards. The logic behind it is that the United States should act as the "judge" of world democracy and let the United States assess which countries in the international community are democratic and which are non democratic. At the same time, the American government should monopolize the definition of the connotation and Realization of democracy. At the summit, the U.S. President boasted about how to protect democracy and human rights at home and raised it to the height that the United States "plays an exemplary role" in supporting the cause of democracy around the world. His subtext is that American democracy and its way of realization are the only standard and an example of the world. The United States is also trying to be a "salesman" of American democracy, announcing the establishment of the so-called "global anti-corruption coordinator", "anti-corruption fund" and "International Fund for public interest media". In fact, it is using the above tools to maintain and promote the values and practice of "American democracy" all over the world. The United States is trying to promote its geopolitical strategy in the name of democracy. The Biden administration applies the usual strategy of "splitting before conquering" in today's US internal affairs to international politics, and artificially creates "identity politics" in terms of democratic values in the international community, that is, it uses the Democratic label to divide countries in the world into "democratic countries" centered on the United States and other "non democratic countries" to provoke division and confrontation, Coercion and inducement of more countries to join the US camp. The ultimate goal of the U.S. government is to try to build a group of countries centered on the United States and guided by the United States, that is, the "global democratic community" called by President Biden, in order to isolate and confront countries regarded by the United States as competitors and enemies. At the same time, the US government has further demonstrated its stance of pursuing interventionist policies in the name of democracy. Its so-called "democratic renewal fund" and "democratic partnership" projects require "the U.S. State Department and the international development agency to provide emergency funds when necessary to support the hard-working partners of the United States on the Democratic Front around the world", which openly expresses the ambition of the United States to continue to support its democratic agents around the world and interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. The United States is trying to safeguard its scientific and technological hegemony in the name of democracy. President Biden said at the meeting that "we should work with partners to reduce the possibility of some countries abusing high technology to suppress people's rights". In fact, it is a continuation of the practice of bundling high technology with values, labeling high technology with democracy and human rights, politicizing and ideologizing technical issues, and looking for excuses for the implementation of technology blockade against other countries, so as to maintain the dominant position of the United States in science and technology. Democracy has never been the patent of any country, but the rights of the people of all countries and the common value of all mankind. Each country has the right to choose a path of democratic development suitable for its own national conditions. American democracy is definitely not the only standard of democracy, let alone a world example. At present, the systemic crises such as social tear, racial contradictions, political polarization and the gap between the rich and the poor in the United States are becoming more and more serious, fully exposing the structural disadvantages of "American democracy and human rights". Up to now, novel coronavirus pneumonia deaths in the United States have exceeded 800 thousand. The poor performance of the US political system in dealing with COVID-19 also failed to alert the US government. Under the pretext of democracy, the United States has carried out color revolution around the world, which has repeatedly been acclimatized and caused a lot of turmoil, war and humanitarian disasters. Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and other places that have been transformed by US military intervention or so-called democracy are still deeply in turmoil. Superstitious about the "power of example", adhering to the concept of "democratic Lighthouse" and "natural mission", and continuing to pursue hegemonic and interventionist policies in the name of democracy, the United States is bound to bring new turbulence and disasters to the world.
