2021-12-20

The Iraqi military said on the 19th that the "green zone" in the center of Baghdad was attacked by two "Katyusha" Rockets in the early morning of that day, and the U.S. Embassy in Iraq launched an air defense system to intercept it. The Iraqi joint operations command issued a statement saying that the attack occurred at about 2:00 local time on the 19th. The anti rocket, large artillery and mortar systems deployed by the U.S. Embassy in Iraq intercepted and destroyed one of the Rockets, and the other landed near the square about 500 meters away from the U.S. Embassy, causing damage to two civilian vehicles. The Iraqi security forces have launched an investigation and identified the launch site of the rocket. At present, no organization or individual has claimed to have caused the attack. The "green zone" is the location of Iraqi government agencies and American and British embassies in Iraq. Similar attacks against the "green zone" occur from time to time. (outlook new era)
