Iran urges the United States to abandon the policy of extreme pressure in the new round of Iranian nuclear negotiations

2021-11-30

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman khatibzad said on the 29th that the US government should abandon the policy of extreme pressure on Iraq implemented by former US President trump during the new round of Iranian nuclear negotiations. At the regular press conference on the same day, khatibzad said that in order to maintain the failed policy towards Iraq during the trump period, the US side wasted a lot of time in the first six rounds of Iraqi nuclear negotiations. Iran participates in a new round of negotiations with goodwill and determination to achieve results. It is hoped that all parties will seize this opportunity, because the window of opportunity "will not be open forever". Khatibzad also said that Iran is moving towards lifting sanctions against Iraq. The Iranian negotiating team in Vienna, Austria, will focus on lifting sanctions against Iran. According to khatibzad, Iran and the United States will not hold talks through direct contact in the new round of negotiations. In July 2015, Iran reached a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iranian nuclear agreement, and then restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iraq. Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of some provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible". The talks between the parties to the Iran nuclear agreement began in Vienna in April this year to discuss the resumption of compliance between the United States and Iran. Due to the serious differences between the United States and Iran and the change of leadership of the Iranian government, the talks were suspended after six rounds. Iran and the European Union announced on November 3 that a new round of talks would be held in Vienna on November 29. (outlook new era)
