Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister: Iran's nuclear talks will resume on November 29

2021-11-04

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Bagheri announced on the 3rd that Iran's nuclear talks will be restarted in the Austrian capital Vienna on November 29. Bageri wrote on social media that in a call with mora, Deputy Secretary General of the EU external action agency, he and mora agreed to start "negotiations aimed at lifting illegal and inhuman sanctions" in Vienna on the 29th. Bageri and mora had previously held two consultations in Tehran, the Iranian capital, and Brussels, the Belgian capital. The two sides agreed to restart Iran's nuclear negotiations by the end of November. Iran said that the lifting of US sanctions against Iran and the resumption of compliance by all parties will be the main agenda of the negotiations. In addition, according to the statement issued by the EU foreign action agency on the same day, the Joint Committee on a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue will hold an entity meeting in Vienna on the 29th. The meeting will be chaired by Mora and attended by representatives of China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain and Iran. The delegates will continue to discuss the prospects for the possible return of the United States to the Iran nuclear agreement and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the agreement by all parties. In July 2015, Iran reached an Iran nuclear agreement with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iranian nuclear agreement, and then restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iraq. Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of some provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible". The talks between the parties to the Iran nuclear agreement began in Vienna in April this year to discuss the resumption of compliance between the United States and Iran. So far, six rounds have been held. Due to the serious differences between the United States and Iran and the change of leadership of the Iranian government, a new round of talks has not been held.
