The reporter learned from the Guangdong Forestry Bureau that the "Guangdong Forestry Bureau Strengthening the Protection of Mangrove Forests Work Plan" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") has recently been officially issued. The Plan proposes that by the end of 2026, Guangdong will have established a monitoring and surveillance system that can cover key areas of mangrove forests, effectively promoting high-level protection of mangrove forests in Guangdong. According to the latest statistics, the area of mangrove forests in Guangdong has reached 11400 hectares; Mangrove plants have a rich variety of species, including 27 species from 24 genera in 18 families. The Plan, based on the actual situation of mangrove conservation in Guangdong Province, clarifies the establishment of a leadership group for strengthening mangrove conservation in Guangdong Forestry Bureau, and lays out the work measures, target effects, responsible units, and implementation deadlines for 13 key tasks from four aspects: mangrove conservation management, monitoring and supervision, learning and publicity, and guarantee mechanisms. It promotes the orderly and effective implementation of mangrove conservation work. In terms of strengthening the protection and management of mangroves, it is emphasized to combine the construction of the International Mangrove Center, improve the regulatory system for mangrove protection, conduct comprehensive inspections and management of mangroves, guide relevant social organizations to participate in mangrove protection in an orderly manner, actively carry out international exchanges and cooperation on mangroves, comprehensively consolidate cooperation consensus, and form a joint force for mangrove protection.
