On October 29th, the China Health Knowledge Promotion Incentive Program held a science popularization and dissemination activity on bone health throughout the life cycle in Beijing. Six organizations, including the Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Diseases Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Health Communication Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, the Health Communication Branch of the Chinese Association for Health Promotion and Education, and the Physical Fitness and Health Branch of the Chinese Society of Sports Sciences, have jointly released a new version of the "Healthy Bone Exercise". Kong Lingzhi, executive vice president and secretary-general of China Association for Health Promotion and Education, and honorary chairman of the Health Communication Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, said that with the increasing evidence of the aging of the population in China, osteoporosis has become an increasingly prominent threat to public health; At the same time, there is a large population of low bone mass in China, which is a high-risk group for osteoporosis; To promote healthy bones, it is necessary to implement the disease prevention and control strategy of "moving the checkpoint forward" and pay attention to the bone health of the entire life cycle and population. According to a report from the International Osteoporosis Foundation, ensuring a nutritious and balanced diet, engaging in weight-bearing and resistance exercises, and maintaining a healthy weight are beneficial for bone health. In 2024, the International Osteoporosis Foundation also launched the "Move for Bones" campaign, advocating for the public to promote bone health through activities such as weight-bearing, resistance, stair climbing, and running. The China Health Knowledge Dissemination Incentive Program invited experts from sports medicine, clinical and other fields to jointly launch the first version of "Healthy Bone Exercise" in 2015, and organized a national healthy bone exercise competition. The 2015 edition of bone exercises focuses on middle-aged and elderly people, designing a set of exercise movements that can be integrated into square dancing to strengthen bones and achieve comprehensive improvement in physical activity ability. According to Kong Lingzhi, in order to further implement the disease prevention and control strategy of "moving the checkpoint forward", focus on the young and middle-aged population, promote strong bones and maintain bone mass, experts in sports, sports medicine, clinical medicine, public health and other fields from six professional institutions have launched the "Bone Exercise (Bone Movement Vitality Edition)" after more than half a year of creation and demonstration. This version of bone exercises focuses on a different audience than the 2015 version, and will be used and promoted simultaneously. According to Wang Mei, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Physical Fitness and Health Branch of the Chinese Society of Sports Sciences, the complete set of bone exercises (Bone Movement Vitality Edition) includes pre preparation, as well as 10 movements including deep squat thoracic spine twisting, front lunge shoulder and back stretching, open and close jump high five, step down squat smashing, side lunge receiving squat, downward pressure step, horizontal small jump, scissor jump, knee lifting jump punching, and windmill breath adjustment. It integrates strength, aerobic, flexibility, coordination and other aspects of exercise, and has a certain intensity and challenge, suitable for daily exercise among young people in Guangzhou, large and medium-sized areas. At the same time, there are also suggestions for bone building "micro exercises" that are suitable for exercising during office and meeting breaks. (New Society)
