The second trial of the kidnapping case of Guo Gangtang's son, the prototype of the movie "Lost in the Lonely", will resume today

At 14:00 today (October 30th), the highly publicized case of Guo Gangtang's son being abducted will be heard in the second instance of the second trial at the Intermediate People's Court of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province. The collegial panel of this case will be composed of the Shandong Provincial High People's Court, with the appellant being the two defendants in the original trial, Hu Fuji and Tang Lixia. The Shandong Provincial People's Procuratorate will send representatives to appear in court, and the families of the victims, including Guo Gangtang, will attend the proceedings. On September 21, 1997, Guo Gangtang's two-and-a-half-year-old son was abducted. Subsequently, Guo Gangtang embarked on a 24 year journey of searching for his son, riding a motorcycle throughout most of China. In 2015, the movie "Lost Lonely" was released, and the story of the protagonist searching for his son, based on Guo Gangtang, attracted widespread attention from society. In 2021, the Ministry of Public Security launched the "Reunion" campaign with the main content of cracking down on trafficking and searching for relatives, and listed the "Guo Xinzhen Abduction Case" as a supervised case. In June of the same year, the Ministry of Public Security organized experts and used the latest comparison and search methods to successfully retrieve Guo Xinzhen. The family, which had been lost for 24 years, finally reunited once again. A month later, two suspect, Hu Fuji and Tang Lixia, who were suspected of abducting and selling Guo Xinzhen, were arrested by the police. On July 7, 2023, the Intermediate People's Court of Liaocheng City, Shandong Province held a trial on the case of Hu Fuji and Tang Lixia trafficking children. On December 27, 2023, the Intermediate People's Court of Liaocheng City made a first instance judgment on the case: the defendant Hu Fuji was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for the crime of child trafficking; The defendant Tang Lixia was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of child trafficking. Both defendants have appealed. On August 22, 2024, the Shandong Provincial High People's Court held a second instance trial of the case. On October 30, 2024, the Shandong Provincial High People's Court will hold a second instance trial of the case. (New Society)
