Recently, the Tongzhou police in Beijing cracked a number of fraud cases involving the sale of discount tickets to the Universal Resort through the online platform. The suspect lied that "internal channels can offer discounts" to more than 30 victims, involving more than 200000 yuan. At around 3:00 pm on August 21st, the Wenjing Police Station of Tongzhou Branch received a report from Mr. Wang that he had been deceived after purchasing tickets for the Global Resort on a second-hand platform. On the same day, Ms. Song also reported to the police that she had been deceived by purchasing tickets for the Universal Resort, and her description of the situation was similar to that of Mr. Wang. In response, Wenjing Police Station established a special team to carry out investigation work. After questioning, the police found that Mr. Wang and Ms. Song were both browsing a second-hand platform website when they contacted a merchant who claimed to be able to purchase discounted tickets and hotel accommodations for the Global Resort. After a simple private chat, both parties added social media accounts. During the chat, the merchant occasionally sends photos containing information about the Universal Resort logo and screenshots of hotel accommodation orders that have undergone image processing, and uses phrases such as "there will be a meeting on Universal's end later", "I'm leaving work", "discounted tickets, if you don't place an order, there will be no discount" to make the other party believe that they can purchase internal discounted ticket prices. After investigation, Mr. Wang purchased tickets for 2 adults and 1 child, as well as one night of hotel accommodation, from the person and transferred over 5000 yuan. Ms. Song purchased tickets for one major and one minor, as well as a full item Yousu Pass, and transferred over 4000 yuan. After paying, Mr. Wang and Ms. Song found that they had not received their tickets and accommodation information for a long time. After multiple reminders, the other party procrastinated for various reasons. When the party concerned requested a refund, the other party claimed that they were unable to refund due to issues with their bank account or abnormal transactions. After work, the police identified the suspect and arrested him. According to the confession of the suspect Chai, he did not have the ability to purchase the so-called discounted tickets and hotel accommodation, and the reason why he posted the message on the platform was to deceive the victim of money. After investigation, more than 30 victims were defrauded of money by Chai in the same way, involving a total amount of over 200000 yuan. At present, Chai has been criminally detained by the Tongzhou Branch in accordance with the law, and the case is being further processed. (New Society)
