Steady improvement in energy supply guarantee capacity

2023-04-28

In the first quarter, the production of major energy products such as coal, oil, gas, and electricity in industries above designated size maintained year-on-year growth. With the continuous implementation of policies and measures to ensure supply and stabilize prices, domestic energy supply has steadily increased, imports have resumed growth, and supply guarantee capabilities have continuously improved. The overall balance between supply and demand of energy is the blood of modern society. Adequate, stable and affordable energy supply is the internal requirement for Chinese path to modernization. Since the beginning of this year, China has accelerated the recovery of production and living conditions, significantly increased the growth rate of industrial energy consumption, slightly increased energy consumption, and overall stable energy supply and demand across the country, "said Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration. In the first quarter, the production of industrial raw coal above designated size reached 1.15 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 5.5%, effectively playing a supporting role. Among them, the proportion of raw coal production in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, and Xinjiang reached 81.3%, an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Industrial power generation above designated size reached 2.1 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%, effectively ensuring the demand for electricity for production and daily use. Among them, clean energy generation such as hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, and solar power increased by 4.4%, accounting for 0.5 percentage points more than the same period last year. With the continuous growth of electricity consumption, the power guarantee capacity still needs to be further improved. Huaibei City, Anhui Province, was built due to coal and prospered due to coal, making it an important energy base in China. Hao Hanbing, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of State Grid Huaibei Power Supply Company, introduced that Huaibei has the world's largest single unit thermal power generation unit. It is expected that by 2025, an additional 1.32 million kilowatts of large-scale thermal power will be built as an important supporting power source, promoting the operation of at least 500 megawatt hours of energy storage, improving the regulation capacity of the new power system, and ensuring the stable supply of electricity. At the same time, we will accelerate the construction of the third ultra-high voltage channel in eastern Anhui, further enhance the power transmission capacity in northern Anhui, and support the energy supply guarantee in eastern China. Since the 14th Five Year Plan period, the main targets and indicators of China's energy planning have progressed smoothly, key tasks have been deeply advanced, major projects have been constructed in an orderly manner, and the unexpected growth in energy demand has been effectively guaranteed. Zhang Jianhua said that we must consolidate the foundation of energy supply security, improve the resilience and security of the energy industry chain supply chain, and support the construction of a modern country with reliable energy supply. In recent years, China has achieved new breakthroughs in the development of renewable energy and entered a new stage of large-scale high-quality leapfrog development. Liang Changxin, Director of the Comprehensive Department of the National Energy Administration, introduced that since the 14th Five Year Plan, the development of new energy has further accelerated, with new installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power exceeding 100 million kilowatts for three consecutive years. The annual power generation of new energy has exceeded 1 trillion kilowatt hours, an increase of over 60% in the past two years. Non fossil fuels account for nearly 40% of the increase in energy consumption, and significant progress has been made in expanding green and reducing carbon emissions in energy development. Currently, the development of renewable energy still faces challenges. In terms of grid connected consumption, traditional power systems are no longer able to adapt to the requirements of large-scale and high proportion development of new energy in planning, construction, scheduling, and operation. In some areas, the pressure on grid connected consumption of new energy is relatively high. In terms of consumption and utilization, in order to actively adapt to the new requirements of the transformation from "dual control" of energy consumption to "dual control" of carbon emissions and intensity, it is necessary to further guide and enhance the initiative of the whole society to consume and utilize renewable energy
