2022-12-08

In the past 10 years, the creation of Chinese children's literature has achieved fruitful results, and the overseas publication of relevant books has been eye-catching, which has increasingly become a powerful carrier for telling good Chinese stories and spreading good Chinese voices. Specifically, the overseas publication of Chinese children's literature has shown new highlights in terms of the scope of influence, content and form, and the main body of publication. First of all, the scope of influence. The famous works of Chinese children's literature are increasingly attracting overseas attention. The translation languages of relevant books are increasing year by year, and the coverage of countries and regions is expanding year by year. Through searching the online bibliographic database of the World Library, JSTOR e-book database and other professional databases, the author found that 32 of the 96 contemporary Chinese literary works collected by more than 3 overseas libraries in 2019-2020 belong to children's literature. Among them, Cao Wenxuan's "Summer", "Bronze Sunflower", "Lemon Butterfly", etc., Li Jian's "Little Mouse and Golden Seed", "Our Family's Journey to the Chinese Garden", "The Magic Silkworm", etc., and Black Crane's "Elk of Ewenke" have strong repercussions in terms of dissemination scope and reader evaluation. Typical is Cao Wenxuan. Since he won the "International Andersen Prize" in 2016, his works have been translated into more and more languages. At present, in addition to English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Greek, Swedish, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, there are also translations of Hindi, Portuguese, Nepalese, Kazakh and other languages along the "the Belt and Road". In addition, Tang Sulan's "How Beautiful the Little Witch is" was also exported to Sri Lanka and translated into Sinhalese and published. A number of Chinese children's literature writers, such as Yang Hongying, Shen Shixi and Heihe, have gradually entered the world. Second, in terms of the world expression of Chinese stories, a number of Chinese children's literature works with global themes and based on Chinese traditional culture have emerged, attracting the attention of overseas publishing institutions with high-quality content and distinctive style. Chinese children's literature works with world themes, including animal literature works related to ecological environment protection, such as Black Flame of Black Crane, Wolverine River, Black Dog Hala Nuhai, Children of Wolf Valley, etc. This kind of works reflects the universal cosmopolitanism of the Chinese ecological outlook since ancient times, and makes overseas readers feel the harmonious relationship between man and nature. Chinese children's literature works with Chinese traditional cultural characteristics refer to those works created with inexhaustible myths and legends in Chinese traditional culture as materials, and accompanied by illustrations, paintings and other art forms with Chinese cultural characteristics, such as the "Chinese Zodiac Series Picture Books" of Shanghai News Publishing Development Company, which are popular with European and American readers on Amazon and other Internet platforms. Through observation, it can be found that Chinese children's literature not only outputs more copyrights, but also realizes the world expression of Chinese stories. The third is the internationalization of publishing institutions. A number of Chinese publishing and media institutions have emerged to actively expand the world children's literature market, speeding up the internationalization of Chinese publishing. For example, China Children's Publishing House has actively cooperated with the world's top illustrators, designers and translators to create classic works of Chinese children's literature, and invited Brazilian illustrator Roger Milo to create illustrations for Cao Wenxuan's Feather. After the book was published, Roger Milo won the "International Andersen Prize" for illustrations
