The 2024 Greater Bay Area Science Forum - Hong Kong Forum: Innovation driven Sustainable Development was held in Hong Kong on the 21st. At the forum, officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government stated that they will continue to actively participate in and promote higher education cooperation in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, gather high-quality teaching and research resources, and deepen cooperation between universities in areas such as technological innovation and talent exchange. The Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chan Mo po, attended the forum and stated that the Greater Bay Area has broad cooperation space in innovation, technology, and green development, and will definitely take it to the next level. We need to coordinate and leverage the advantages of each city in the Greater Bay Area, promote better coordination between enterprises, universities, and research institutions with funding, and strengthen talent and technology exchange and cooperation. Bai Chunli, an academician of the CAS Member and chairman of the Great Bay Area Science Forum, attended the forum and said that achieving the goal of sustainable development requires the joint efforts of all countries in the world. China is a pioneer in promoting sustainable development through technological innovation, constantly proposing China's solutions to achieve sustainable development goals through technological innovation. Wang Xi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, attended the forum and stated that the "Shenzhen Hong Kong Guangzhou" technology cluster has been ranked second in the global innovation index by the World Intellectual Property Organization for four consecutive years, which is inseparable from the perfect combination of Hong Kong's original technology and Shenzhen and Guangzhou's industrial technology innovation. Guangdong is willing to work together with Hong Kong and Macao to accelerate the construction of the International Science and Technology Innovation Center in the Greater Bay Area, injecting new impetus into the innovation driven development and the accelerated formation of new productive forces in the Greater Bay Area. The President of the University of Hong Kong, Zhang Xiang, stated that Hong Kong has unique advantages in basic research and can make greater contributions to the country.
