The China-Europe train "Sino-Western Diplomatic Relations Commemoration" realizes two-way opening from Yiwu to Madrid

At 17:00 on March 9, 2023, a China-Europe train loaded with 100 standard boxes of Yiwu small commodities, ceramic products, electric scooters, daily necessities and other goods with Chinese characteristics set off from the West Yiwu Railway Station in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, and headed for Madrid, the Spanish capital. At the same time, in Madrid, Spain, thousands of miles away, a train with the same name carrying red wine, olive oil, baby food and daily chemical products set off from Madrid to Yiwu, China. Since then, the China-Europe train "Sino-Western Diplomatic Relations Memorial" has realized two-way opening from Yiwu to Madrid. The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the initiative of jointly building the "the Belt and Road". March 9 coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Spain. This "Commemorative Number for the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the West" train, which connects Yiwu, the "World Supermarket", and Madrid, the largest commodity distribution center in Europe, is an important part of the activities for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the West, as well as a witness to the two-way travel of China and countries along the "the Belt and Road". On November 18, 2014, the first China-Europe train from Yiwu to Madrid opened. The train spanned 8 countries in Eurasia, with a total length of more than 13000 kilometers, and became the longest China-Europe train at that time. Since its opening, the China-Europe train from Yiwu to Madrid has opened a new channel for economic and trade exchanges between China, Spain and countries along the line. By 2022, the China-Europe train from Yiwu to Madrid has operated 1326 trains in total and shipped more than 107000 TEUs. A group of data from the customs showed that from 2014 to 2022, the total import and export volume of China's Yiwu to Spain increased from US $400 million to US $870 million, an increase of 118%.
