The 4th 6G Global Summit opened in Hong Kong on the 8th, and representatives from the global industry and policy institutions will explore the potential of 6G communication technology in building a better future during the two-day summit. This conference is hosted by the Hong Kong Communications Authority and held in a mixed online and offline mode, attracting over 600 high-level representatives from government departments, regulatory agencies, international organizations, telecommunications companies, and enterprises from more than 80 countries and regions, as well as experts and scholars in the telecommunications industry. The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Qiu Yinghua, stated in her keynote speech at the summit that the government is committed to creating a favorable environment to promote technological development and preparing Hong Kong for the 6G era. The relevant measures include releasing more suitable spectrum through auctions to support the development of advanced mobile communication services; Exploring the formulation of more convenient measures from a telecommunications perspective to support the development of low altitude economy; Review and simplify the licensing process for low Earth orbit satellites to further enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness in satellite development. This is the first time that the 6G Global Summit has been held in the Asia Pacific region.
