Recently, 35 outstanding ex servicemen in Nantong, Jiangsu Province signed a twinning agreement with 35 recruits who are going to serve in Xizang, promising "you will guard the country, and I will guard the home". This is another activity launched in the first half of this year by the Jiangsu Provincial Double Support Office, in conjunction with the Provincial Conscription Office, the Provincial Military Region Political Work Bureau, the Provincial Department of Veterans Affairs, and other departments, since the issuance of the "Opinions on Carrying out the 'New Recruits Defend the Country, Old Veterans Defend Their Families' Support for the Military and Family Benefits Activity". Jiangsu is a province with a large number of soldiers, and every year many new recruits voluntarily request to be stationed on the border. The relevant person in charge of the Provincial Double Support Office introduced that the main purpose of carrying out the "New Recruits Defend the Country, Old Veterans Defend Their Families" activity to support the military and their families is to carry forward the glorious tradition of Jiangsu's double support, fully play the role of retired soldiers, and help border soldiers serve with peace of mind by organizing outstanding retired soldiers and new recruits and their families from remote and difficult areas to join the army. The person in charge of the Double Support Office in Jiangsu Province introduced that this activity is widely carried out in all districts and cities in the province.
