Ministry of Ecology and Environment: China US Climate Change Dialogue Held in Beijing

The Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced on the 20th that the China US Climate Change Dialogue was recently held in Beijing. The reporter learned from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment that, as agreed by both China and the United States, the US President's Special Envoy on Climate Issues, John Kerry, will visit China from July 16th to 19th. Chinese climate change envoy Xie Zhenhua held talks with Kerry, with Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment Zhao Yingmin attending. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on implementing the consensus of the Bali meeting between the two heads of state and cooperating to address the global challenge of climate change. Both sides unanimously believe that climate change is a common challenge facing humanity, and it is of great significance for the two countries to work together to address this challenge. The two sides held candid, in-depth and constructive dialogues on promoting global climate governance, strengthening dialogue and cooperation and other topics around the implementation of the Sino US Joint Statement on Climate crisis and the Glasgow Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 1920s. During the talks, the two sides introduced their respective policies, measures and action progress to address climate change, and conducted in-depth exchanges around the energy transition, the global green industrial chain supply chain, low-carbon zero carbon negative technology, and promoting the institutionalization and pragmatism of cooperation. They are willing to continue to work together to promote the multilateral process of climate change, adhere to the goals and principles of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, Support the work of the UAE, the chair of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), and work with all parties to promote the success of COP28.
