On the 24th, the Zambian Xiakaifu Gorge Hydropower Station contracted by China Electric Power Construction Group Co., Ltd. (CEC) held a power generation ceremony for Unit 5. President Xiqilema of Zambia unveiled the nameplate, cut the ribbon, and pressed the start button, marking that all units of the hydropower station were put into operation. In a message on social media that night, Xiqilema expressed deep gratitude to the Chinese government and project construction personnel, saying, "This extraordinary project will provide significant assistance in ending the power shortage in (Zambia).". Nowadays, the improvement in electricity supply has made the streets where the small shops are located prosperous. The Lower Kaifuxia Hydropower Station is the flagship project of the "the Belt and Road" construction cooperation between China and Zambia, and also the largest infrastructure project in Zambia in the past 40 years. The hydropower station has installed five mixed flow generator units with a total installed capacity of 750 megawatts. After all of them are put into operation, the power supply capacity of Zambia will be greatly improved. The project is of great significance in promoting the development of agriculture, industry, mining, and economic recovery after the epidemic in the country. After that, he trained as a hydropower station technician and participated in the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment for Units 4 and 5.
