Unmanned equipment becomes the highlight of Azerbaijan defense exhibition

2022-09-21

Recently, the 4th Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition (ADEX-2022) opened in Baku Exhibition Center, Azerbaijan. As the largest event in the field of defense industry in the South Caucasus, more than 200 enterprises participated in the defense exhibition to show their technological achievements and advanced equipment in the field of defense industry. (Multi rotor UAV launched by Azerbaijani Defense Company.) Unmanned equipment attracts more attention at this Azerbaijani International Defense Exhibition. Among them, the "Skylark" I-LEX micro UAV system exhibited by Elbit Systems of Israel is very popular. This air intelligence reconnaissance equipment is an upgraded version of Israel's "Skylark" I system, designed for mobile forces, and is fully autonomous during takeoff, the whole mission and landing, mainly used for peripheral security, border and coastal surveillance and other tasks. At present, the UAV has been equipped with IDF troops. In addition, Azerbaijani Defense Company launched a series of multi rotor UAVs, including a "death squadron" attack UAV. This type of UAV can carry two 10kg ammunition and a 7.62mm machine gun, and has certain penetration capability. It is expected to load troops in 2025. In addition, this series of multi rotor UAVs also includes a transport UAV, which can carry a payload of up to 450 kg. At the exhibition, Korea Aerospace Industry Corporation showed the relevant conceptual design of light unmanned armed helicopters, and depicted the picture of manned unmanned armed helicopters working together, aiming to reduce operational risk and improve operational efficiency. In addition, many new types of weapons appeared at the exhibition. Türkiye's rentatec company is developing a new patrol missile called "Karger". This cruise missile can identify potential combat targets through large-scale scanning, and has more accurate target positioning and recognition functions. Paramount Engineering Company of Kazakhstan exhibited its pre produced Alan-2 armored vehicle for the first time. In addition, the Russian Federation Export Corporation exhibited nearly 500 military equipment samples, including Su-35 fighter jets, Ka-52E armed helicopters, Mi-35M armed transport helicopters, etc. Azerbaijan is located in the southeast of Transcaucasia, bordering Iran in the south, Russia in the north, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan across the sea in the east, and Georgia and Armenia in the west. Its special geographical location provides convenient conditions for its military development. In recent years, as Azerbaijan continues to promote the process of military modernization, and Azerbaijan and Armenia have repeatedly clashed over the ownership of the Naka region, Azerbaijan has purchased a large number of military products globally, while vigorously developing its own military equipment, especially unmanned equipment, with the help of foreign technologies, and achieved remarkable results. On the one hand, this defense exhibition is intended to show the latest achievements of the country in equipment development in recent years, on the other hand, focusing on changes in the regional security situation, with the help of the defense exhibition to promote the development of their own armaments, and enhance the regional voice and influence.
