In the darkness, the blind football players are precise and dexterous. Just because they have a dream in their heart, they have the direction to move forward; On the 42.195 kilometer long track, the athletes of the marathon wheelchair group forgot the scars on their hands, kept improving and surpassing themselves, and could not stop the pace of pursuing dreams only because of their physical disability At the 11th National Paralympic Games and the 8th Special Olympic Games recently held in Shaanxi, 4484 disabled athletes from all over the country bravely competed for the first and fought hard. They showed the style of disabled people in China in the new era with excellent achievements of more than 36 world records and 179 national records. Tokyo Bay witnessed Chinese Paralympic athletes achieve "double first" in the Paralympic gold medal list and medal list for the fifth time in a row. If we lengthen the timeline, in the last five years alone, Chinese disabled athletes have won 1114 gold medals in 160 international events. The brilliant performance of disabled athletes on the field is not only the epitome of 85 million disabled people striving for their dreams, but also the best footnote for the vigorous development of the cause of disabled people in China. In order to attract more disabled people to participate in rehabilitation and fitness activities, the China Disabled Persons' Federation carries out national brand activities such as "fitness week", "ice and snow season" and "Special Olympic Day" every year. Local disabled persons' federations hold mass sports events for the disabled at the grass-roots level to promote and popularize rehabilitation and fitness sports projects and methods suitable for different categories of disabled persons. By the end of 2020, a total of 10675 community fitness demonstration sites for the disabled had been established nationwide, and 125000 social sports instructors for the disabled had been trained. The participation rate of community recreational and sports activities for the disabled in China has increased from 6.8% at the end of the 12th Five Year Plan to 17.8% at the end of the 13th five year plan. Rehabilitation service is an important way for the disabled to improve their quality of life. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, 967000 disabled children received rehabilitation assistance, and the coverage rate of basic rehabilitation services and the adaptation rate of assistive devices for the disabled exceeded 80%. To enable every disabled person to live a wonderful life is inseparable from the popularization of education and the improvement of employment rate. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the number of students in special education increased from 440000 in 2015 to 88000 in 2020. The enrollment rate of compulsory education for disabled children reached more than 95%, and 57477 disabled people were admitted to colleges and universities. In terms of employment, during the 13th Five Year Plan period, 1.81 million disabled people were newly employed in urban and rural areas, and an average of 400000 disabled people participated in government subsidized vocational training projects every year. The equal participation of disabled people in social life is inseparable from the joint efforts of the whole society. During the Paralympic Games, Wang Zhe, a volunteer from Xi'an Aviation Vocational and technical college, was busy. He is responsible for taking photos of the award ceremony of track and field events every day. "On average, I have to shoot more than 20 times a day. Although it's hard, I'm also very happy to record their smiles on the podium," Wang Zhe said. In order to help disabled athletes participate in the competition in the best state, 7380 competition volunteers, more than 12000 urban volunteers and more than 135000 social volunteers participated in the Paralympic Special Olympics, including more than 770 team volunteers who specially provide services for the competition and life of disabled athletes. Competition venues have also been specially transformed for disabled athletes. The stadium in Baoji, Shaanxi Province has set up ramps at the height difference, soft bags on the angular walls, and warm tips on the glass doors and windows... Every corner reflects the "temperature" of the event. Outside the stadium, the concept of "equality, participation and sharing" for the development of the disabled has become increasingly popular, and the social trend of the integration of the disabled and health is taking shape. Taking advantage of the east wind in preparing for the Paralympic Games, Shaanxi has made great efforts to promote the barrier free construction around the competition related venues and the social public environment, and has improved and optimized the transportation hub and the shopping malls, hospitals, scenic spots, hotels and other places in the competition related cities (districts). "The development of these work has accumulated experience and laid a foundation for us to comprehensively promote the construction and transformation of barrier free facilities in the next step," said Xiang Hongxia, President of Shaanxi disabled persons' Federation and Executive Deputy Secretary General of the Organizing Committee of this Paralympic Games. Not only in Shaanxi, today, the construction of barrier free environment in the whole society is becoming more and more perfect. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the China Disabled Persons' Federation and other departments implemented barrier free transformation for 650000 poor and severely disabled families, accelerated the pace of information barrier free construction, and made daily travel and information exchange more convenient for the disabled. "Over the years, the state has always combined the protection of the rights and interests of the disabled with social development. The social environment is more inclusive and friendly, and the social atmosphere of understanding, respecting, caring for and helping the disabled is stronger," said Cheng Kai, vice president and vice president of the China disabled persons' Federation. The disabled are integrated and walk hand in hand. With the care and help of the whole society, 85 million disabled people in China are writing the most beautiful movement in their own life track in the name of dreams. (outlook new era)
